Appearance
Marzipan is a striking combination of many different clashing features to make a confusing, but remediable mutant. She (or he) stands right in the middle of her two parents at 3 ft 6in, which is pretty tall for a pokemon. Most of her upper half and her physique in general comes from her mawile side, but she has enough of her volcarona traits to look like a perfect nightmarish blend between the two. Even while having such a nightmarish form, there is something oddly human child-like about her...
Marizpan's head is topped with thick masses of hair that drape all the way down to his shoulder. Contrary to what one would think by looking at it, her hair is more moth-like than human. It is very light and almost constantly powdery to help her sense the environment around her. She has two horn like antennae that are covered in fuzz and jut from her head to function as ears. A crest surrounds her head and gives the impression of flower petals. They are able to compose many different pleasant or sweet perfumes which mixes with the natural powder of her guard hands. She is able to fan them to create a puff of powder that she uses for her "sweet scent" move.
Marzipan's head and upper torso is much like that of a mawile. It is yellow and covered in fur, with a a rounded head ending in a short and slightly pointed muzzle. The teeth inside the mouth on its face are spinelike and harder than diamonds. While vicious in concept, the teeth are strictly for breaking through ores and minerals like a pickaxe. They also come in handy for juicing fruits. Her eyes are a dull red that at times looks like a pale pink. Her eyes can pick up on infrared light. The edges of her pupils are blue and compound eyes, allowing her to see things that are moving in UV light. Marzipan's arms end with furry monster-like hands rather than paws.
Two small pairs of insect arms protrude from her sides and typically stay folded over her chest. The hairs on their underside is good for scaling cave walls and ceilings, but they are too weak to carry her full weight for a long time without the support of her feet.
Marzipan's lower abdominal and legs are still structured like those of a mawile, but with some striking volcarona traits. She once again loses the fur for guard hairs on her legs, which end in large and terrifying insectile feet. The bottom of them are covered in thicker hairs to help her walk on odd surfaces. Her waist morphs into a large blue and black thorax. It dimly glows as it processes acids to help its monstrous mouths dissolve and absorb things they catch. The intense molecular diffusing and binding helps to create her aura of radiation. It usually is a comfortable warmth, but in the heat of battle she is known to churn out acid into poison, which bumps her body heat temperature up to incredible degrees. It also is the place that should hold her sexual equipment, which one could guess is a mystery in itself. Things like biology become very confusing when you are mixed with an underground monstrous pokemon and an almost prehistoric insect pokemon; both of Marzipan's parents don't have the most conventional biology to begin with, at least compared to surface dwelling mamilian pokemon. Combined with ambiguous features and qualities found in both the male and female of her two species, her biological sex, or if she even has a biological sex is an enigma. Marzipan doesn't really care for gender pronouns or sexuality, so it doesn't make much of a difference to her what she is. She is more concerned about what she does.
Her last and most obvious physical detail is the hybrid between volcarona wings and mawile jaws. There are two large carnivorous jaws with the same patterns of her thorax, and they extend from her back right beneath her shoulder blades rather than her head. If the heads absorb enough sunlight, they can form into very powerful, albeit very awkward wings more like her volcarona ones. The transformation, however, is so excruciating that it could cause her to faint. What is more common is her standard duel headed mode. Both heads are rather vicious, can produce toxins, and are vampiric. They have a crest going across the middle of them like the chrest that her primary head has, and its sweet scent is more powerful to attract prey. The heads function independently and have brains of their own, however their brains are very primitive and rely on input from the central brain for any resemblance to personality, hinting to Mazipan's potentially dark side...
Personality
Marzipan is just as confusing as his (or her) appearance is. He has a hard time expressing his feelings, reasons, and...well, expressing himself at all. He prefers to be one of few words and many profound actions. He is somewhat awkward and mechanical when forced to do anything other than dungeoneering. His posture, one, and words tend to be rigid and uncompromising. Marzipan is always completely honest when he does talk and never softens his words for anyone. He also tends to be stubborn and absolute in his opinions and decisions. All of these combined hive a powerful and intimidating presence to him that cannot be ignored.
On the other side of the coin, Marzipan can have his moments. For all those years he has been alive, most have been spent in a larval form. The rest have been spent dungeoneering, so with the exception of battling, he does not have much going for him in other departments. He doesn't have much book smarts, and in some ways smarts at all. Most of his intelligence is dedicated to knowing what type of pokemon, ore, fungi, and many more things you can find in a cave are an what do they mean. His tendency to take things literally can be quite humorous. Whats the more dangerous side to his low intelligence is how gullible it can make him and how easily he can be taken advantage of. He has a fascination for fire-types and a serious soft spot for baby and baby-like pokemon. With no parental instinct, it leads to awkward and humorous situations, but Marzipan finds happiness in being able to interact with them nontheless.
What is interesting to note is that despite Marzipan's ability to radiate heat and being part volcarona, Marzipan has no fire powers. In fact, he is very critically weak to it. His eyes are super sensitive to sunlight and his typing's double weakness to fire should make it the bane of his existence, but the sad biological imperatives pull him in different directions. Mawile tend to start on the surface and move deeper into underground as they grow older, only coming to the surface to raise young. Volcarona, on the other hand, go as deep into the underground as possible to leave their eggs, which will hatch and live in the deep underground. After many years, they eventually evolve into volcarona and feel the need to make the dangerous venture from underground just to fly in the sky to feel the sun on their wings. Marzipan feels a strong yearning to do the later, but is not equipped with the right biology or typing to do so. This leaves him rather confused and frustrated on the inside, which mostly gets released via the viciousness of his extra heads.
History
There isn't a positive story on how Marzipan came to be. The reasonable explanation is that Marzipan's father was a mawile who stumbled upon a female volcarona who needed help reaching the surface. Somewhere along the way, they made and egg and volcarona left it like they all do. Unbeknownst to either of them, one of them had been exposed to high radiation and it led to a mutated egg. Regardless of what the truth is, when Marzipan hatched, Marzipan was alone. This would be normal for a larvesta, but Marzipan was not 100% larvesta. The lower half matched what was to be expected of a larval pokemon, only in a mawile coloring of black and gold. The upper half, however, was that of a mawile with a fluffy moth mane and stubby insect arms. The awkward biology and no assistance made it very hard for Marzipan to learn how to walk, which was good and bad in some ways because Marzipan would have years and years to learn without much of anything else to do. Like all larvesta, Marzipan spent 10 years simply squirming around in an area underground. While most would get preyed on at the time, Marzipan's weird and somewhat intimidating mutations worked in their favor.
Marzipan finally evolved and felt the calling to find the sun, but wasn't any more mentally or emotionally equipped to take on the world, especially one that thinks of mutants so harshly. After relearning to walk and finally finding their way higher, Marzipan quickly began to realize that other pokemon saw them as a freak of nature. Marzipan was heartbroken and ready to retreat back into their hole when Diance found them and encouraged them. Diance taught Marzipan how to speak more fluently and began what would grow to be Marzipan's master understanding of underground exploration. It was only natural that they would turn to the guild and be a long time veteran member to this day.
