ABOUT THE CHARACTER
At first blush, Ripley seems like a bitter, withdrawn cynic, brusque and unwilling to socialize, but if you get to know her, you just might find a bitter, withdrawn optimist waiting to be set free. Though not the softest in terms of mannerisms, Ripley legitimately cares for the people around her, and believes that everyone deserves a second chance. It just happens that that belief tends to be tested quite a bit, and she's been on the verge of giving up for a very long time now. | CAMARADERIE It's honestly pretty easy to be friends with Ripley. You just have to show that you, in her eyes, are a person worth caring for and putting up with. It's actually getting her to demonstrate those feelings that's the hard part. Once you finally manage to get past her shell, she can be doting, in a motherly sort of way, but no less stern than she was before. THE OPPOSITION Despite her general demeanor, Ripley's list of enemies is surprisingly small. There are plenty of people who piss her off, for sure, but not very many that she'd go out of her way to harm. One easy way to get on her bad side is to be in any way affiliated with The Creed. Murderers are also high on that list. Really, anybody who does bad things without feeling bad about it is likely to get a flipper upside the head. COURTSHIPS
Romance, in Ripley's opinion, is a younger 'mon's game. She's got bigger things to do than fuss over who has a crush on who. But, the heart wants what the heart wants, and we can't really help when we fall in love. Though she's long since set aside any romantic inclinations, people who display a certain combination of strangth and moral fiber might find a certain old turtle's attention headed their way. EVERYTHING ELSE TBH, I'm open for pretty much anything. Family? Rivals? Old friends? Just go ahead! Ripley might bite, but I definitely won't. |

Hello! Thought I’d throw Etude your way. As always, I’m throwing out all the ideas that come to mind, which may be too far reaching or not what you’re looking for. Please change, deny, or add!
Looking at their histories, it wouldn’t be unlikely that they ran into each other in the first decade or two after the meteor. Etude at that time was a vigilante and spent her days going around and stopping pokemon who caused trouble. If Ripley was terrorizing small villages, that would have been more than enough to draw Etude’s attention. But that doesn’t mean at all that Etude would now dislike Ripley! Quite the contrary, actually, because if someone regrets their actions, Etude sees it completely as water under the bridge. Lastly, before she became deputy mayor (which was something like 5 years ago), Etude was also a member of the Laprus Guild.
Now for my list of relation ideas: maybe Etude did indeed know Ripley from 50 years back, and at that point were rival/enemies, with Etude cursing the fact that she couldn’t really swim. Etude later put all that behind them when Ripley joined the guild, which Etude would have joined a few years later. Etude has a certain respect for those who have the courage and willpower to change from [their past.] Perhaps they’ve gone exploring together (Etude needs some people who she’s teamed up with in the past). And now they’re friends who can talk about the past, and life, and other old lady things? Granted, Etude has a bit of a lust for battle, so I don’t know how that’d bounce off Ripley. (I’d also like to note that Ripley would be someone Etude would consider for a relationship.)
Thought I’d mention in passing, also, that Feilding, my shaymin guild historian, is a kid of Diana. If you ever needed an old shaymin to talk to who had a strong connection to the old guild leader.

Yessssss, all of this sounds incredible. I'm 100% for old ladies hanging out and maybe occasionally making out sparring. Ripley probably sees a lot of herself in Etude, and that's both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because they share a lot of the same values re:forgiveness and second chances, along with some other things (justice, protecting the weak, what have you), bad because she's afraid that that lust for battle might push Etude to do something really stupid. Not that she's that worried about it. Etude's her friend and she has the utmost faith in her. Since she's ex-Guild, it'd be more surprising if she didn't at least know Ripley in passing, seeing as how she's kind of a fixture. They've definitely gone on their fair share of missions together, probably built up a whole sisters-in-arms kinda relationship. She's a little not-so-secretly disappointed to see Etude in office, but she understands the reasoning. Besides, being Deputy Mayor was her decision. Feilding, though. Feilding. That there's a tough nut to crack. Ripley's honestly not sure how to feel about him, which is very frustrating. On the one flipper, he's got a whole lot of responsibility on his shoulders, both as the Guild's historian and as one of Diana's heirs. On the other, he doesn't seem to treat his duty with the gravitas it deserves, and that is even more frustrating. As a result, she's probably just a little more harsh on him than she should be, considering hes like 400 years older than her. © EMMIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND

I think Etude would see Ripley as one of the few people she can really rely on, both in battle and every day life. Sisters in arms for sure. Etude would likely challenge her to random duels when she’s feeling bored. I imagine they’d have some good stories from going dungeon exploring with defeating powerful foes and Etude doing said stupid things and having to be saved. I wouldn’t be surprised if she owes her life at least once over to Ripley.
Thread ideas, if you’d like to open a thread right now; it’s never a bad thing to make a late-night inn open thread for chats and warm drinks. Could also go on an outlaw hunt, either by asking an IC outlaw if they want to join or by coming up with an NPC outlaw. I’d offer to go into a dungeon but Etude’s got one mod thread already. XD I’ve also got an open thread in the Moonlight Hills that’s Etude pondering her occupational situation because she wants to regain her youth and go exploring again.
On Feilding, weirdly, I think he’d actually be competitive with her. She’s certainly stronger than he is, and likely comes off as older than him; more worldly, more experienced. Plus he just joined the guild while she’s a veteran. He’d be thinking, “I have to prove I’m as competent as she is or else no one’s going to respect my position”. He’d actually get up from his nap to argue knowledge on pokemon and the world, possibly even getting heated (which isn’t easily accomplished with him), and then, of course, he’d go promptly back to sleep. But yes, most of the time he’ll do just as much work as he has to and then go goof off. XD At least, when push comes to shove, he’ll stand up and do his duty.

An open inn thread sounds like a fantastic idea, especially since, being a reptile and all, Ripley tends to stay indoors during the winter. Buuuuut all of those other threads sound amazing too, so IDK what I even wanna pick now. Outlaw hunting would be right up my alley, and I'll probably hit up the Moonlight Hills post as soon as I get back from classes. Really digging how the Feilding stuff is shaping up, too. Haven't even actually posted anywhere, and she's already got somebody to yell at! Their arguments probably don't escalate past words very often, usually it'll end when one of them brings up something really out of turn about Diana and they both kinda fall silent and awkwardly shuffle away. It'd be kind of a mess when they do come to blows, since while Ripley's got plenty of experience, he's got that 4x type advantage, so it's anyone's game. The thing is, Ripley doesn't so much hate Feilding, so much as she thinks he needs somebody to push him to do more, to step outside of his comfort zone. And if she comes off as the bad guy while trying to be that person, then that's just fine with her. © EMMIE OF WICKED WONDERLAND
