Appearance
Shokku is a strong and sturdy cat, the luxray more than adequate for his species, and perhaps a bit bigger at that, though the difference would be menial. His fur is a pale sky blue chased with bands of yellow on his forelegs, and a second heavier coat of rough black fur layers on much of his upper half and chest. His powerful form ripples with sleek power, and age has done little but toned this appearance of strength. Striking golden orbs shine from red eyes, and yellow patches mark his inner ear ring and star his tail. Scars complement his appearance rather than draw from it, many faint ones marking his chest and legs, and larger ones marking his jaw, ears, and haunches. He wears a silver pendant bearing a raven in flight, something that has come to stand for the Karai family, and proudly his, even if it be of man.
Personality
Shokku can be a proud old coot when he wants to, and he has by no means not earned the right to. But most days the mighty lion prefers to be a bit more easygoing. He's got a pretty stable personality, calm and well composed with a very rational and open mind, tempered by experience. He knows of battles and peace both, and while he does believe strongly in the law the Tribes praise, he is just as willing to speak for it as he is to fight, something his daughter seemed to have picked up a little. She probably also picked up her stubborn streak from him, but we won't speak of that.
He's overall pretty neutral, or maybe a little warm, and tries to treat people evenly, not holding his power over them and instead respecting them as equals. Not to say he is unafraid to enact this power. He has been given it a reason, and if the circumstances arise, Shokku is not afraid to do exactly what he feels is right.
This seriousness and stoicness isn't always true though, and even this mighty creature needs to let loose a little. Small jokes and teasing often peek through, and the old man isn't afraid to make fun of youngsters, or even act a little childish himself in a lighthearted situation. When he wants something, he won't hesitate to pull the Baby-Doll Eyes on someone, and when he feels life needs a little more dramatic effect, rains will come at his beckon. Wit and humor are as much a part of him as his leadership and steady guiding nature.

History
Shokku is one of the diminishing few old enough and sane enough to remember the times of humans, though what little he does remember is somewhat vague. He remembers what they are, and he has vague memories of a trainer caring for him. Not loving, simply making sure he was well enough to push on, much like a pet, though with the added element of unwilling indulgement in arena styled fights against other pokemon. Something that then had seemed natural, and as a young shinx with the simplistic mindset of a child, he had actually looked forward to, hoping to somehow impress his trainer enough to receive that affection he so craved as a child.
Looking back, Shokku sees the cruelty in this. The rejection and treatment, as if he were no more than a pawn or a tool. The needless battling with someone who by most standards would yet be considered a baby, yet expected to battle older wise and stronger pokemon simply for their master's gain. The fact that he can't remember his own mother beyond the scent of her fur because he was separated and given away at the earliest age possible for training. It's hard to be bitter about such faint memories, but he of all pokemon understands the reason the ferals fight.
After the destruction of the human race, the adolescent Shinx had to adapt, and he found himself taken in not by the more civilized and respectable pokemon long used to living with humanity, but rather those who had kept to the wilds for millennia. Where the pets of humans ignored him for the sake of their own survival and worries, a Pyroar mother who had recently lost her own cub to the disasters striking the earth took him in as her own, helping shelter the cub from the dangers that ravaged the earth in the aftermath of Arceus's wrath. Without her help, those long years of darkness would have likely proved utterly fatal to such a young pokemon. Even without the radiation leaking everywhere, the criminal pokemon coming up in hordes as the desperate turned on each other.
Shokku was sheltered, but he was not blind to it. The years right after the fall were the worst. Where ever the pair ventured their was death, wounded, and worse. Then they began to see signs of a group that would later be known as the creed. Whole droves of pokemon killed not by radiation but by star madness. It was sickening and grotesque.
Everything was scarce at first. Food was hard to come by, good water harder, and safety impossible. Close calls were daily occurrences, and had the Pyroar and Shinx not stayed by each other's sides, chances were neither would have lived to see the begin of the rebuilding.
Scattered groups of pokemon began to form towns. But Shokku's adopted mother was suspicious. She had a reason to be. Not long after, things began taking a very familiar tone. She was no stranger to humans, and the hierarchy and mannerisms of these towns seemed much too tainted. Fearing what might become of them, she turned to find a different people. Her people.
The ferals weren't quite so formal a group then, but they were starting to band together. Many could already see the warning signs. Criminals were becoming organized, civilization becoming organized and structured with specific leadership and roles, and a guild have even been built with ranks and orders. Society was coming back fast, and what would stop these pokemon from being as their humans before them?
Pyroar and her adopted son were advocates and supporters of the Wild Ones, though they did not call themselves that. They helped form the original bands, and Shokku, edging into his early twenties by then, was elected as one of the chieftains, being young but strong willed and strong minded. Certainly he did not disappoint, and it was celebrated within the south tribe when only a few years later he evolved. They believed it to be a sign that he was a strong leader, and he was determined to prove them right.
As a luxio, Shokku had no troubles finding a mate at this point, having been an esteemed chief for a few years already and well established. And with his new evolution, he was a grown pokemon now, no longer considered a child. It seemed only natural that him and a young jolteon in his tribe quickly found attractions for each other, and though it took a couple of years for their relationship to properly build, when they finally became mates, it was with some surprise that they realized her belly was already growing.
A couple of seasons later the happy couple were graced with a daughter. An eevee, she was rambunctious and eager even as a cub. Things went well for several years, though they struggled against the ever expanding rise of society and criminals both. And at point, they even ran into the Creed. Many caught the illness and had to part, and there were no exceptions. Star Madness came, and it killed a good portion of their tribe. His mate and adopted mother both caught it, as well as several of his closest men, and it was with grim faces that they were forced to leave them behind. For the sake of the tribe.
Even now Shokku fears the Star Madness, having seen for himself what it does. What it creates. The Creed are it's survivors, and even they are half-mad and raving with it. Hardly a life worth living anymore.
Still the Luxio persevered, and it was with confidence that after the Star Madness epidemic passed, the Luzio made his second trip through the Path of Rebirth, remembering the trails he had walked over a decade ago when he was only a few years into his role as leader and protector. When Shokku returned, he was a proud and strong Luxray, having again passed his rite and proved himself worthy as a ruler in these times of darkness for the tribes.
And the struggle always remains. Nearly two decades has changed nothing save that Shokku is now passing his prime, yet still no where near his fall. And he will refuse to admit being less than he was for some time to come yet. Because to do that is to admit that he's lived a while, and maybe seen too much.
